I have experienced both rural and urban living. Perhaps rural is the ideal. But urban is more the reality. For some people, such as myself, the urban existence has been a personal choice. I live in Seattle, WA – a big city by most standards, although it is rather rinky-dink in comparison to London, where I lived for a couple of years when I was really young.
This blog is about living a simple, happy life in a large city. It is possible. My life is deliberately slow. If my life were any slower, I would be dead.
This is not a blog about voluntary simplicity, sustainable living, or being green and eco-friendly – although I end up living that way much of the time. It is more about making your own space and not just being carried away by the tide. It is not about eschewing the technology of modern, urban life, but more about making it work for you. It is also about having fun and giving yourself permission to be whimsical. Yes. I have the Tapfish App on my iPhone!
The Great Recession has left many people in upheaval. Many have lost jobs. Many have lost homes. The American Dream seems to be dying. Many Americans now find themselves involuntarily and reluctantly leading the kind of life I actually enjoy and would choose all over again.
I just wish to share some of the bliss I have found along the way, and also make folks laugh.
Your blogs have filled me with understanding of where you are coming from, and joy in your happiness. Power to all us dreamers and stargazers!!
